Welcome, Gail. Tell us about your recent release.
Treading Water: Barely above Water is a revised
edition of Barely above Water. Suzie Morris, the heroine, has
struggled with an illness her doctor couldn’t diagnose. Now there’s
light in the darkness. Hanging onto her strong faith, Suzie has
trusted God to see her through this little understood disease. In
Treading Water she’s filled with hope when she finds a path to
promising new treatments. Her story has the same sweet romance and
fun rag-tag swim team, but Suzie’s life is enhanced with the new
advancements for Lyme disease.
Sounds intriguing. Tell us a little about your research for this book. I’m a Chronic Lyme disease victim, so my research about this illness has been constant and extensive. However, for the book, since I’m not a medical researcher or a doctor, I reached out to two people who are, David G. Lee, D.C., Ph.D, CA.d., who has studied Lyme disease and treated those who have it, and Raphael d’Angelo, M.D., who served as a military physician and has spent forty-five years researching and studying microorganisms that cause infections including Borrelia and Chronic Lyme Disease.
As for the swimming, I’m a swimmer and was a Swim Team Mom. At meets I served as everything from bullpen Mom to coordinator, but I double-checked my facts for the book with a swim team coach.
